Android: Speed Up Foursquare Check-ins

If you are in a poor coverage area, checking into foursquare can a pain due to the inability to triangulate your location (only one cell site).

In these instances you usually have to wait for the GPS to determine a location. If you are lucky, you will not be in a basement or a subway tunnel and be able to get a fix on your location.

Foursquare on Android offers the ability to create bookmarks of frequented venus. This eliminates the whole searching and waiting game.

Instructions for Android (2.2 – stock image)

1. Hold down on background until “Add to Home screen” window appears.

2. Select “Shortcuts.”

3. Scroll down and select “Foursquare Venues.”

4.  Search and select your desired venue.

A bookmark will now appear on your screen. These bookmarks will take you directly to the venu page without having to search. I ended up creating a folder which contains all my frequented venues.

Note: I am not sure if this is possible on IOS. If someone would like to give it try, post the result in comments.
